Works great. Bought a Regalo gate for the bottom of the stairwell ("Regalo Easy Open Kids Gate 50″ wide, bonus kit, includes 6″ and 12″ extension kit, with clamp and wall mount kits). To install the Kidco Y-spindle, we had to remove the plastic part from the Regalo gate with pliers (very easy to do). After that the fit was perfect. The whole setup is very sturdy and withstood the pushing/pulling of our 13 month old baby. In general very satisfied.
