It was a great present for my girlfriend. This mirror looks great and is easy to install and easy to use. ------------------------------- ----- ----- --------- -------------------------Packing & Unpacking: The mirror came in a large cardboard box. When I opened it up, the mirror was completely covered with foam packing material. There were also small plastic guards on each corner of the mirror. The mirror also came with mounting hardware consisting of two plastic dowels and two screws. ---------- ------------------------------------------------------ ------------- ------------Dimensions: So the LED mirror consists of two components. The first component is the mirror. It measures 59 inches high and 23.5 inches wide. The other part is the case, which houses the electronics as well as the attachment points. The body is centered on the back of the mirror and is 2.75 inches smaller than the mirror on all sides. ---------------------- ------ ---------------------- ---------------------- -----Assembly : Originally I was going to just put it on the floor, but since there is no frame and most of the mirror is supported by the lower glass, I decided against it. The mirror can be installed both vertically and horizontally. An offset power cord protrudes from the back of the mirror, preventing the mirror from sitting flush with the wall. There should be a gap of about half an inch between the wall and the mirror. Speaking of the power cord, the cord is approximately 49.5 inches long where the cord exits the back of the case. If you want the mirror to be mounted vertically, the distance between the mounting screws is 13.5 inches. If you want to mount it horizontally, that distance is just over 50 inches. I really wish these mounting points were in 16" increments because I'd rather mount them on studs. In my case, I had to mount mine entirely on drywall because I needed it closer to the outlet because of the length of the cord. ----------------------- -------------- ------ ------- --- ----------- Usage and Brightness: There is a LED light strip on the side of the mirror that wraps around the back of the mirror in the case. When connected, the LED lights can be activated using the touchscreen on the front of the mirror. Touching the button toggles between warm light mode, daylight mode and combined warm light and daylight mode. By cycling through the lighting options, you're actually turning on and off some of the LED cells on the side of the mirror. If you long press the button, the LEDs will change their brightness level. I was very surprised at how bright the light was. The combination of light reflecting off the back of the wall and diffused by the front edge of the mirror gives it a really modern look and makes it feel worth having.----------- ---- ---- -------------------------------------------------------- ---- ---- -------------Watts and Heat: I was curious to see how much current each setting drew from my outlet, so I plugged in my power meter. and measured performance. The results are as follows: Standby/Off: Range from 0 to 0.3 watts. Warm light brightness: 0.9W. Maximum warm light brightness: 18.7W. Maximum daylight brightness: 1.1W. Maximum daylight brightness: 18.4W. I didn't feel any heat from the diodes. All in all, these were pretty good results. Judging by the brightness generated by the mirror and the amount of heat generated, I'm quite satisfied.------------------------------ ---- --------------------------------------------------------- ---- ---Vulnerabilities: One vulnerability I found was the power cord. I wish there was a cutout built into the back of the case so the power cord could fit in the cutout. This would mean that the mirror could be more flush with the wall. Since the mirror was installed, unless I wanted to cut the wire and connect to a longer wire, the position of the mirror was determined by the length of the power cord. It would be better if the electrical cord was more like a computer or television cord where the cord can be completely removed and replaced with any length cord. - - ------------------------------------------------ -- --------------- Final Thoughts: Overall, this is a good mirror. The lighting effects and the touchscreen really justify the price I paid. These features give the mirror a truly modern look. Another good feature was the mirror's ease of use. The only downside was the lack of flexibility in powering the mirror.
