They appear to be identical to the standard sponge that comes with the unit. Thus, they are a suitable replacement when the original is too torn. I don't like the lines cut into the sponge as they don't seem to help at all with cleaning the tip of the iron and only serve to have more points to tear off quicker, but replacements are relatively cheap and plentiful not the greatest claim . If you need a sponge like the ones you throw away, this is the one for you.
