Review on Samsung Odyssey 27" Curved Gaming Monitor with FreeSync, QHD 2560x1440P Display and Adaptive Sync Technology by Franklin Aukuso

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Really good monitor

Got it on Prime Day. I didn't have a place to install it where I was and I was planning on moving. It took me over a month to move, finally I made it and hooked up the monitor. It's a HUGE size, even compared to 27 inches it's still a big step up. It's small for a TV, but huge for PC gaming. But I like it. The curved screen is a bit easy to lose your cursor at times, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. After a few hours of use, a streak about 3 inches long appeared on the screen and didn't go away. It happened in both inputs and when nothing but power was connected to the monitor. Yes, and the Revain return period has already expired, so I had to deal with Samsung repairs. It was a pretty easy process, they even sent me a printable UPS return label to mail back on the 2nd day. However, they kept it for over a week and I believe they actually fixed the same monitor and sent it back. There was no refurbished device off the shelf. At least it was the same box I sent it in. Everything works fine and I really wish it was brighter, I set it to full brightness and almost full contrast and there are still darker/dirty areas when watching movies or playing games. some games. I'm sure if I take additional settings I can improve them a bit, but basically everything is fine. The response time is ok, the 2k resolution is amazing and my poor little rx 570 can display so many pixels just fine. Many games make it very difficult and I had to disable some settings. When gaming at 1680 x 1050 I had a lot of games at Ultra and some at 1080. But when I turned on the monitor at the full 2560 x 1440 resolution the frame rate dropped to around 8-10. For most games I had to go up a few levels to Very High to be able to play again. Better graphics cards perform better, but at these prices I'm happy so far.
