We recently installed a video doorbell on our front door. The installer stated that due to the distance of our modem from the front door, the network signal was not as strong as it should be for the doorbell to work properly. With some reservations, he recommended an extension cord. After a bit of research, I realized that an access point would be the best solution. I installed a Netgear AC750 with a network switch in my office, which is near the front door. Setup was quick, easy and without delay. Can't tell if to set it up or use it as an extender, but works great as an access point. I measured the signal strength with the Speed Test app and the difference after installing the AC750 was impressive. A friend with a lot of IT experience says that such units usually retire after about 18 months. Time will tell but I like what I see so far. Great price (I got a refurbished unit) and impressive performance.
