Great value, great performance

We recently installed a video doorbell on our front door. The installer stated that due to the distance of our modem from the front door, the network signal was not as strong as it should be for the doorbell to work properly. With some reservations, he recommended an extension cord. After a bit of research, I realized that an access point would be the best solution. I installed a Netgear AC750 with a network switch in my office, which is near the front door. Setup was quick, easy and withoutโ€ฆ

Be careful if you receive an "updated " product.

My "updated" product came without any documentation. Just one device in one box. I followed the YouTube instructions exactly, but the setup didn't work. The reason was that the device already had SSIDs that weren't mine - apparently the "restore" didn't involve a simple factory reset. So I spent almost 2 hours setting this thing up including time on the phone with a guy from India. Not my favorite way to spend time. I also can't access the web setting now that I'm off the phone. Works perfectly. once you get it.

When it arrived I was willing to return it and give a not so good review. The reason is that when I opened the box, it looked scratched and yellowed. Needless to say, I was a little frustrated, but then I noticed a small green tab in one of the corners. I pulled the little green tab and it was a plastic cap. As soon as I took it off, the scratches and yellow marks were gone and it looked like a brand new device. BUT the instructions in the box were a small piece of paper that was supposed to go

Good signal, great price

This product can be used in two ways. One option is to use it as a wireless extender that uses your existing Wi-Fi signal and simply passes it through. Another option is to use it as a hotspot, which means you've got an ethernet cable plugged into it and it's configured to provide WiFi in a similar way to how you set up your router. I only use this product as an access point, so I have a router in a closet at the other end of the house with WiFi disabled, but it provides 4 wired ethernet portsโ€ฆ

Probably good if your needs are simple

As far as used or refurbished I've had no problems. The product I received was indistinguishable from brand new except for the packaging. However, as a product, this extender/AP has some odd behavior that makes it unsuitable for my needs. In extender mode, it changes the MAC address of each wireless client to a "virtual MAC address". I have no idea why he's doing this. For most people it doesn't matter at all, but if you're using wireless devices, apps, or software that rely on knowing the MACโ€ฆ
