Much better than a lampshade!

The vet gave us one of the traditional lampshade collars after my dog's surgery. While this helped him not lick the seams, he was a one-man wrecking crew, tapping everything in their path. An 80-pound Weimaraner is crazy enough without extra help. It also left marks on the walls because it walked on it, and he kept trying to get rid of it by rubbing against something. Going to the toilet was difficult for him as he also likes to sniff all sorts of things. They tried to plant it while we were leaving and it fell off twice because it was scared. The vet recommended one of these and it worked great. He was much calmer with it and could see peripherally without colliding with anything. This also helped him on the toilet. It wasn't ideal for him not to lick, but we made the collar a little looser to make him feel comfortable. It is perfectly adjustable to make this possible. It also has leg straps that prevent a dog from throwing it off, although they've managed to take it off a couple of times. Definitely a 5 star product. While it's not entirely inevitable, I think it will help many calmer dogs. It's soft for comfort and has no thinner edges that can make your dog (or you) uncomfortable. It made my dog a lot less unhappy during his recovery and ultimately it was worth making sure he wasn't stressed.
