I bought it for personal use to record private conversations. By hiding it in places that could be heard OPENLY, but only a few meters away from them. "Playback" must be set to LOUD to hear anything. 1 seat was 5 feet away and picked up nothing but noise. . And I could understand what was being said due to the hiss and the need to BLOW the volume on playback. I've used this 6x now and I'm not happy with the results. If all parties are aware of the recorder and you can put it in normal view, that's good. BUT AGAIN you have to up the rating to hear it
