Review on Soldering Gun Tip with Weller RCT Technology for Effortless Rope Cutting by Chad Michels

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Installation can be a problem.

This tip works flawlessly, cutting line quickly and efficiently. The fit issue noted in other reviews may be an issue for some. My Weller 8200 soldering iron is over 40 years old. This version requires bending the ends of the tips that go into the gun (after installing the locknuts on the ends). A copper soldering tip has it easy, but a wire cutting tip is steel and difficult to bend. A bench vise or bench vise should do the job. After bending, the locking nuts will not come loose from the ferrule without straightening the ends, which is much more difficult than bending them. At this point I lost the ability of the soldering iron. Perhaps newer versions have some sort of swivel nut that eliminates the kink. I called Weller to find out but never got an answer.
