Review on Rousseau 5000 Solution Miter Silver by Francisco Russell

Not suitable for stationary miter saws

Tried this with an older DeWalt 10" double guide miter saw. My saw is constantly buried in my workbench and this tent doesn't work at all. It does a good job of capturing everything but the tiniest particle of dust (which we have to watch out for), unless you have a standalone mobile station that allows the excess tent to hang from your back. This article won't work for you without a lot of fiddling. It doesn't actually suck dust from the saw into the vacuum port, it just controls the dust and keeps it from going where it wants to go. Case volume fast enough to prevent dust from entering the face. My full size Dayton with 2" hose doesn't work well enough to deflate the casing. loose, it will suck into the vacuum port and clog it. That's how it was with my vacuum cleaner in Dayton. Due to my situation I haven't attempted this with a full 4" suction hose, but I'm pretty sure the increased speed is causing the sheath to be sucked in on itself. I had to add strips of plywood around the suction hole to prevent the fabric from being sucked into the hole. What! Is there a hole for a power cord on the back? ok dude In my situation it was taking up a hell of a lot of space. But it doesn't allow dust to enter the space around the saw, so I think everything is fine. Actually one of those things that intuitively looks so good that I had to buy it. Great idea, lousy execution for all but a few cases the device was designed for. Too bad. I would not recommend this device for any purpose, especially in situations where it will be used frequently. Edit: Added some pictures. Not the most elegant solution, I admit, but it works. I don't know how long, but the fabric seems to be of good quality. I really don't see how the current version of the shroud will support vacuuming from a Jet Shopline 4" 1200cc professional vacuum.

Pros
  • Internal baffles to keep out fine dust
Cons
  • Update available
