It was smaller than I expected but it ended up being perfect. I have one for myself and one for my son, we have used them on hikes in Zion, Bryce, the Canyonlands, the Arches, the Grand Canyon and a few others. Everyone else had big bags, these were the best, we glided through the slot canyons and never had to take the bag off. One shovel is enough to carry two thermos flasks and fruit. Enough for a half-day hike, we nearly all made trips of 16 miles or more per day, although we did return to the car and fill up at least once.
