I have already bought 2 of these small sizes for my budgies and they liked them so much I decided to try the larger, medium size. When the medium size arrived I was initially concerned that the diameter of the branches would be too big for their little feet, but I was pleasantly surprised when they happily started jumping on them. The diameter is almost an inch. The smaller ones are closer to half an inch. I planted two of the smaller ones in the cage and these are their favorite places to sit or sleep, although I have many other types of perches including rope perches and natural apple tree branches from my garden. I installed a large medium sized upside down cage and it's a new favorite spot outside of the cage for them to sit or play. I was hoping that the longer branches would prevent some arguments about sitting together. Hmm, they still love to fight over the branch, but I've seen two sitting on the same branch and not fighting either. I have 4 parrots by the way. I love that these groupers have 4 branches so they can jump around anywhere. Small branches can accommodate 2 birds if they want to sit close together. The middle branches are much longer. Overall a great purchase, great product for budgies.
