I was following the Nerdforge Diagon Alley Book Nook tutorial and required single sided individually addressable LEDs. I had never worked with LEDs before so I was reluctant to buy a large supply as I wasn't sure I could handle it. These turned out perfect. I used an Arduino Nano as the controller. I powered the LEDs from the PC using the Nano's 5V pin and also used 6V (4 AA batteries) to power the Nano (Vin pin) and the LEDs. I was concerned when Adafruit's Neopixel manual warned that a higher output voltage might fry the first few pixels, but so far so good. I am excited about this project and very happy with the LEDs.
