Review on 🔌 Metra USB Retention Harness for HYKIA Vehicles by Brian Lee

The wiring harness was very easy to install. Arrived well wrapped in bubble wrap and on time. I bought this to install in my wife's 2012 Kia Sedona to connect to my new Pioneer AVH-4200NEX head unit which I had just professionally installed. I wanted to keep the factory USB port for use with Android Auto and the factory 3.5mm AUX-in. First good news: Installation was quick and painless. This new wiring harness fits the factory connector bracket like a glove and has enough wire length for a seamless connection to the main unit. You can connect a USB storage device to the port and read and play MP3 files normally. The AUX input works perfectly. And not so good: This wiring harness will NOT allow you to use the Android Auto factory USB port. Yes yes I connected my new phone to it and started Android Auto and I was able to see the maps. Then I walked down the street and after about 3 minutes she lost connection. I turned off my phone and tried again with the same result. So I can assure you it's not a starter. That being said, I do NOT know if the cause is this wiring or the factory USB port itself. Any one of them could be to blame. Despite all this I left the wiring harness installed but moved it to the Apple CarPlay port as I don't have an iPhone and will only be using it for USB storage and charging. It was cheap enough and better than not having access to this port for free. I give this device a solid 3 stars. It does exactly what it advertises but doesn't meet the basic needs I bought it for. I will keep this device and recommend it to others who fully understand the expectations they must have in the same conditions. Unfortunately I bought this for a specific purpose and it didn't work, but I'm not sure if the whole fault lies with this pendant. Star Criteria: 1 - A full heist that does not fulfill the main advertised features or is not an advertised product. I will most likely be RETURNING and would NEVER recommend it. 2 - Not worth the money. Performs some of the basic functions advertised, but probably not all, and was ultimately left with the impression that it didn't offer enough value for money. I wouldn't buy it again and probably wouldn't recommend it unless the buyer had a very specific use case. 3 - It performs the basic functions advertised and has some utility for the price but doesn't work for all reasons. I bought. I will most likely not buy again and will only recommend if the buyer understands the limitations of utility. 4 - It performs almost all the functions I bought it for, but it has limitations. I would probably buy again and recommend. 5 - Totally as advertised and probably exceeded expectations. If high quality and shipped well. I would buy again and recommend anytime.
