🔌 Metra USB Retention Harness for HYKIA Vehicles Review

It fits my Kia forte but as others have said it doesn't allow CarPlay to be used on my secondary stereo. I ended up not being able to use this and had to run a new USB port to use CarPlay. He charged my phone and the aux worked.

In short: it doesn't work. Phones sometimes charge (even when it works, it's unbearably slow). CarPlay or Android Auto will not work, nor will flash drives. Solution? Open the little black box that houses the USB connector and plug in a standard USB extension cable. Works great, unlike this cable.

Purchasing this product was a reminder why you should check reviews before buying. It fits perfectly into the factory USB port on my 13 Sonata. However, it won't charge my phone or launch CarPlay. Also, I lost the shift light. For eight bucks, it would be foolish to complain. I think it's my fault for not reading the reviews before purchasing.

This product is not properly powering or communicating with the USB device; With this wiring harness kit, I can't use Carplay/Android Auto via the factory USB slot and this wiring harness. It seems useless for most cars. According to Crutchfield, this also doesn't work if you want to run Carplay/Andriod Auto. deal breaker

Works great in my 2013 Elantra with the aftermarket Android head unit I installed. However, it should be noted that the highlighting of the labels under the ports is lost. This can be fixed by hooking up a few wires in the car's factory wiring harness, but I didn't bother as the connectors are usually hidden anyway. Only rated one star due to quality control. One of the wires had a crack in the sheath. It exposed a bare wire and I had to fix it. Otherwise a useful and practical product.

The wiring harness was very easy to install. Arrived well wrapped in bubble wrap and on time. I bought this to install in my wife's 2012 Kia Sedona to connect to my new Pioneer AVH-4200NEX head unit which I had just professionally installed.
