Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Dorman 615-178 Intake Manifold for Ford, Lincoln, Mercury - Engine Component Selection by Paul Tucker

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My intake manifold cracked on my 1998 Ford Crown Victoria P71! Bought 9/17/2012, installed same week.

Testing to find out why my engine was misfiring horribly was a nightmare thanks to Vista North County Ford! But after all that, after laughing at the $800+ price tag for just having to replace the manifold, I fled. I searched the internet, found a manual, printed it out and got started. In 2 days I had this baby installed along with new spark plugs and COP covers. So far it has worked as advertised. And for $191.11 for this intake manifold on top of the $500 parts fee, I was told I was very glad I made it myself! I'm not a mechanic but I'm quite mechanical by nature and it was quite difficult to do it myself at first without personal tools. If you are in the same situation I would recommend this collector and have a few days off to do business. Dealer $800 + DIY less than $300 with brand new plugs and police boots! Price of tools included [most of which I returned afterwards] The only thing I didn't like was that the rear coolant hose bracket seems to be all plastic and it happens when my previous manifold snapped. It appears to be of good quality and I have had no issues or heard anything about this particular product. I will update if there are any developments.

Pros
  • Replacement parts
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
