I got it as a gift, but for the price I think it's really good value for money. We built the house last year and the workers used much better quality blocks. However, I think this thing could do about 90% of what they need for a lot less money. I am using this to place some apron boards and open shelving behind our stove in the kitchen. That saved me a lot of time and energy. I love that I can put it on a camera tripod and that it levels itself. Set on a wall-facing kitchen island, this one was able to "shoot” a vertical centerline for the mantel and also set a horizontal plane for two sets of shelves to sit on either side of the open space above the hearth. . I was able to use the handle on the tripod to get the lines to the exact height I wanted and the laser gave me straight lines on either side of the wall. mm Worked very well.
