Excellent product. I've used them in several woods, the hardest was probably oak. I am convinced that the negative reviews are due to user inexperience and mistakes. I've only ever broken one and I did it by not drilling to the correct depth and trying to force the wood to give rather than removing the insert and re-drilling. I use an 11/32" drill press and set it up with a hand-turned drill. I never break, loosen, or "chew" the wood with this method.
