I bought them because my wife always has a cup of something and I didn't want to buy plastic straws. The bamboo is very well preserved and does not add any flavor. What I really like is that I can just throw them in the dishwasher. It comes with pipe cleaners (maybe if you've had a really thick smoothie?) but the dishwasher has always worked really well for us. We've had them for a while and they really hold up. If you want to try bamboo, here are some good options.
