Review on πŸ”Œ IP2SL-P iTach TCP/IP to Serial Converter with PoE - Enables RS232 Control Devices to Connect to a Wired Network by Jason Maciel

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Alright: Power Converters

Hmm, that's okay. I bought it so it wouldn't connect to the serial port on corporate wifi hotspots. First, access to the serial port does not require authentication and cannot be enabled. There's also no decent generic way to access the serial port, and it handles CR/LF a little oddly. As a software developer I've had no problem creating a small driver for it, but nothing exists unless you don't want to and can't run their software (anything outside of Windows or Mac, and you're out of luck with software security). Otherwise the price is right. The web interface is poor but functional. Seems stable, although I managed to break it by scanning the port, but PoE saved the day from that.

Pros
  • COMES WITH AN INTEGRATED SERVER FOR EASY SETUP. Download the iHelp setup utility from the Global CachΓ© website for easy network discovery and setup.
Cons
  • Almost never
