This iron works well on my Mark Ethan 852D+. It appears that this is no worse than the original iron that came with the kit. With my heavier tip, the iron heats up in about 45 seconds. The supplied tip is too good for my work, but can easily be exchanged for my original iron tip. Time will tell if the iron will withstand the factory conditions, but for now I don't see any problems. I expect this iron to last a couple of years before I need to replace it, which for the +/- $15 price tag isn't bad at all. This iron is used several hours a week for light touch ups. Is this a "high quality" iron? Probably not, but I don't expect this iron to be as good as the Weller. It works for the application I use it for in my inexpensive soldering station. Weller is used in my production process which requires an iron that can withstand heavy use for several hours a day and I have been using it for over 15 years with no problems.
