Good replacement 852D+

Works well, heats up quickly. Much easier than trying to find and replace the heating elements in the original iron. The included ferrule was too narrow for tinning and splicing 20-16 AWG wires with lead-free solder. 900M-T-3.2D and 900M-T-1.6D bucket tips ordered.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Can't remember

It fits onto the SMD block as described. However .

Fits SMD block as described. However, it doesn't get as hot as the original iron. The only reason I kept it was because he gave me a piece that broke on the original iron. If my original iron didn't work again, I would return it.

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • I will add later

Good replacement for 852D+ iron

This iron works well on my Mark Ethan 852D+. It appears that this is no worse than the original iron that came with the kit. With my heavier tip, the iron heats up in about 45 seconds. The supplied tip is too good for my work, but can easily be exchanged for my original iron tip. Time will tell if the iron will withstand the factory conditions, but for now I don't see any problems. I expect this iron to last a couple of years before I need to replace it, which for the +/- $15 price tag isn't…

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging
