UPDATE: New SSD is faster. USB3 Gen2 500MB and Gen 1 are 400MB slower. Both speeds are great. It is very easy to install an SSD in the case. Very nice design. I found it best not to remove the NGFF SSD hold button. The best way is to turn the big side away from the SSD, install the SSD, and then turn the SSD over. I removed the first button and had to use an additional button because the first one didn't stay in place. When copying large files to and from a USB stick, around 400 MB are read and written. After the first gigabytes when copying to a USB SSD, the speed drops slightly, but immediately increases to around 400 MB. TB3 USB-C port was a bit slower than just the old USB3 Gen 1 port.
