Review on Vornado CR1 0073 06 Small Whole Circulator by Emily Scott

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Great price but terribly poor reliability

Unfortunately and to my great dismay, Vornado are now using their name and making these fans with low budget motors that fail after about a year of use. As an avid fan fan, I've been using Vornado fans since college. My parents bought my first Vornado as a gift when I went to college, they know me too well. its infinitely variable speed control. This original Vornado lasted me 16 years with two engine disassemblies, cleanings and lubes. The original Vornado was a real quality fan at an affordable price. Unfortunately, today's Vornados sell for a good price, but in terms of durability, they're no better than a $10 Wal*Mart fan. My daughter uses a $10 fan from Wal*Mart which actually outlived my two Vornado fans and costs 4 times less than the Vornado! Current Vornado fans no longer just beep or start slowly, cheaper motors simply fail before you even have a chance to lubricate the bushings. Unlike my original high quality Vornado, I didn't even get a chance to disassemble, clean and lubricate the bushings, the motors just went OFF. Disposable ventilators at a premium price are very, very frustrating. Before writing this review, I checked my Revain orders using the search term "Vornado" and found that I bought a Vornado: 11-4-201212-3-2013 (local hardware store, not Revain) 3-11- 20143-15- 20154-19- 201611-21-2016Last night the one I bought on November 21, 2016 died at 3am. It didn't even last 11 months. All of these purchases are verifiable Revain purchases, except for the one I bought in 2013, which I also have proof of because I have a business account with a local hardware store and that's where my records are kept. As you can see from my purchases these fans barely last a year. This is a sad state of affairs for those who have shopped at Vornado's "premium" marketing and loved their quality, genuine products. It looks like Vornado is trying to open up a new market for those of us who are willing to pay for a really high quality fan that they no longer make. I really hope that a quality fan manufacturer will fill the void Vornado left in the junkie fan market. Be warned that the Vornado may be sold at a premium price today, but it is absolutely not a premium product. As with many products these days, the manufacturer has stripped the product of any hint of durability and quality, presumably to save a few cents. Vornado PLEASE PLEASE bring back a quality fan! Here's a tip: try sealed roller bearing motors instead of cheap hub motors. A shopper like me is happy to pay a premium price for a premium product, but I can no longer pay a premium price for low-budget junk that masquerades as a quality product. with my order history.
