Review on Travel In Style: Refillable Leather Notebook Cover For Small Journals by Luis Blaschko

Good cover, great paper.

First off, I just wanna be clear that this is not real leather. When you look to the inside of the booklet, it's obviously not split leather, and you can clearly see the cloth backing that they form the faux leather on. Anyways, that's to be expected given the price point, as real leather is going to be easily twice the cost So I'm not taking any points away for that. I just want to be clear in case that's important to you the buyer/reader.Ok, so first impression is that the cover is thick, soft, and supple. A pocket notebook or three installs in seconds and the whole affair slips into a back pocket for future use while out and about. It's everything you could expect from a pocket notebook cover. Now, what really (pleasantly) surprised me was the notebook that came with it. I've been using Field Notes books for a while, and while I love the design, the paper isn't always the highest quality. Bleeds, feathers, not bad but not amazing either. Anyways, I took a look at the kraft booklet the cover came with and found a nice, smooth feeling paper. So I grabbed a wet flowing fountain pen and wrote a line. It looked good, really good. And so I grabbed a brush pen loaded with FP ink, did a heavy, wet smear. The ink pooled, refused to feather, and there was no bleedthrough on the other side. As a final quick test, I inked up a pen with a heavily pigmented, sheening ink. On absorbent paper grades, the sheen gets dulled and the ink looks flat, but this cheap, no-name kraft booklet handled it with aplomb. So basically, yes, nice cover. But I'm really wowed with the quality of their kraft notebooks, haha.
