The first thing I did with them was pull the stump out of my yard. Wrapped both chains around the base, attached them to my 4Runner and removed them. It wasn't a tree or anything, just a decent bush. The stump didn't come out on the first try, it held me in place. I tightened the chains and pulled several times but that didn't happen. So I went back and ran after a few tries which worked. The chains were no worse than worn ones. I believe if they can handle that they will be good as safety chains for towing.
