Like most pads, the pressed steel base plate is heavily powder coated. Due to the powder coating and the rough, fuzzy edges of the stamped backing plate, the pads will not fit properly on the caliper. If you can attach them, they certainly won't slide or float as intended. This leads to premature pad wear. To fix this you need to use a flat file or find a way to smooth out those edges. Also, the pads don't come with pads or springs for the rear pads, so you'll need to buy one or use pads/springs from your old pads. For what Hawk gets for their pads, they at least have to come with the necessary hardware.
