Here's what you need when testing ppm around 800-1000ppm I use it to test fertilizers with the water I will be using. This reading tells me if my nitrogen is good in the water or if I'm adding too much or if more is needed. I aim for 600ppm for all plants, you will also need distilled water for your test, after getting the right amount of fertilizer use whatever plant water you want to use.
