These rollers have a plastic core - there are no metal or ceramic filaments inside so they don't get very hot when I use them with a blow dryer. I have very long, very thick, curly/wavy hair and I use curlers to straighten it, give it volume and create nice waves/curls, not frizzy. I've found that they look nice when I take the curlers out, but the curls fall out within minutes/hours even after heating them for 30 minutes and letting them cool for 2 hours before removing them. There are other brands too. Velcro rolls that have a "thermal core" and I find they have better staying power.
