We got this because NYC restaurants hardly give out matches. It works, but takes some getting used to. The spark from the block sometimes doesn't light the fuse, and sometimes more than one shot is required. Once it goes out, you have to physically turn off the device, turn it on, and then press the spark button. Every time it goes out while the candle is lit, it takes 3 (short) steps to turn it back on. If you light more than 3 candles this could be a problem. We've gotten better at it and sometimes we can light 4 or 5 candles, but that's about it. I don't know how long it will last but we've had it for about 3 months now and it's still working. USB charging is required and takes about a week between charges, but we light candles maybe three times a week.
