This is the perfect guide to slicing bread (at least for my use). It's slightly longer and taller than my homemade loaves and is spring loaded to hold the loaf in place. I use a Cuisinart electric slicer to cut slices that are almost perfectly even and only about 5mm thick (20% less than 1/4 inch) - perfect for toast or sandwiches. It is easy to use (leaning the knife blade against the rear guide), even down to the last piece of crust. When it's done, it can be thinned out so any parts that need washing are on the outside.
