Every time I start sewing the thread breaks

This is the worst sewing machine I have ever used! I bought this to make the pillowcases I use for my grandma and every time I use it the rope snaps and I've tried a few different things I've been given so I can get back to sewing get used to and teach my kids that I'm such a waste of money
