I bought this to connect my laptop to a docking station with a USB Type-C port. I was able to use a keyboard and mouse attached to the docking station , so I know the adapter works, but my computer didn't recognize the monitor on the dock. Some "experts", including Geek Squad, advised me to try a Type-C to HDMI adapter (not USB 3.0 or 3.1), but the datasheets of several Type-C to HCMI adapters I can find could state explicitly that it does not support video/monitor. I suspect this refers to Type-C for USB 3 - and this product's description should reflect that caveat. Please note that the product described was USB 3.0 but the one I received was USB 3.1 in case this small upgrade is of any benefit to anyone.
