I use pool chemical test strips so how difficult would it be to use that to test the hardness of my water. Not difficult at all. I have two small complaints that in 30 years time when I need them again will in no way stop me from buying them again. I really only needed one, maybe two, but that's not an option. Although I understand that from the point of view of the manufacturer it is unprofitable to sell one or two. Another issue is that the units of measurement don't match my fabric softener. I'm not an expert, and if I were, maybe the different units would make sense. I used the number from the strip and "guess" and the water seems softer than before. I call it a win.
