Review on ๐Ÿ‘Ÿ Columbia Men's Peakfreak Venture Waterproof Hiking Shoe: Unrivaled Performance for the Adventurous by Mark Toth

Strong but painful and they stink.

Don't know. They were cheaper than the Keenes when I bought them and since they were all leather on the outside (except for the ankle) I was hoping they would last a lot longer than my last two sneakers. A previous pair of Keens were very comfortable, but the stupid nylon lace "eyelets" broke before the shoes were even a year old. I fixed them and eventually the outer portion of the shoe broke and failed where it flexed severely near the toe. I think they wore out significantly (no longer waterproof) after about two years and I eventually replaced them after three years. The next pair from a different brand (can't remember which one) had metal eyelets so it was a nice upgrade. They were comfortable and good shoes, but they only lasted two years before the same area failed near the toe. Mind you, I only wear them 1-2 times a week; not much use. It seemed to me that two years of part service was not enough for a $100 pair of shoes. So I looked for shoes with metal eyelets AND full leather to make them last longer. So I bought this Columbia. I've had them for about a year and they're holding up great. The outsole looks good too. However, I had to buy several earbuds almost immediately! They hurt my legs just to stand in them. It was painful. Lower back hurts. With insoles I can walk and walk all day pain free, but it still hurts to stand for long periods of time. Then I realized these shoes REALLY stink. None of my other shoes stink, not even the ones I wear 3-4 times a week. Not even my sports shoes, which I sweat through when I exercise. She stinks horribly. The thing is, I avoided wearing them if it was in a situation where I had to take them off somewhere other than at home. Maybe because of the skin they don't breathe either? I do not know. I'm not sure I would buy again.
