Review on Fellowes 10MC: Advanced 10-Sheet Micro-Cut Paper Shredder for Home and Office by Ian Iknokinok

DO NOT USE FOR CREDIT CARDS

I just broke this overpriced paper shredder trying to shred a credit card in it. The card is stuck in the gears and cannot be removed. Yes, I have had a paper shredder since March 1918, during which time I destroyed three bins of paper and greased the gears as I emptied the bins. This is the first time I've tried to destroy a credit card in a car (in July 2019) by inserting it where the credit card image is showing and the machine broke. The only card is completely tangled in the gears. The chipper cannot be driven backwards or forwards. Other brands might be just as lame (I don't know); but basically this is my last Fellowes. This thing didn't have the ability to work with a credit card, although it claims it can. My old Chase-Revain credit card has ended its short life (in terms of usage) and I'm almost as excited as ever. The product is garbage. My shredding cost over $45 for 5 gallons of shredded paper plus a credit card. On the other hand, the entire map was destroyed except for the one built into the gears. How wonderful. I'm so stupid. I figured they wouldn't promote the possibility of destroying a credit card when they SHOULD know it can't be done. (Maybe they confused business cards with credit cards.)

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
