As everyone probably already knows, printer manufacturers practically give printers away and then rant about endless ink cartridge replacement costs. Unfortunately, the cartridges are coded so that if you try to refill the cartridge, the printer won't let you use it, so you end up spending over $50 on new HP cartridges, not $7 on refills. So far I've spent more than four times the price of the printer on replacement cartridges.
