The thread is not very wide and the screw is quite thin compared to the Decmate #9 2-1/2 screws (which are 100 per lb vs .. that's 110 per pound). However, they will likely work well for most applications. I just wouldn't use them to carry any type of load or where you think the heads might break off mid-ride. I'd recommend going to Home Depot instead and buying a 5lb bucket of equivalent deckmates. The price and number of screws are similar, but the quality is much better.
