BLUF: If your USB mouse or keyboard is using more power than usual, connect it to a powered USB hub power on. If you have a programmable keyboard or mouse, these are not recognized by the operating system and instead emulate normal devices. I'm using a Switch with a single DELL UP3216 4K display, a Logitech programmable keyboard, and a Microsoft mouse. The mouse and keyboard were buggy and didn't work well. I used to have this problem with an old motherboard that didn't provide enough power for a keyboard with a built-in display and USB ports. The KVM switch combines a USB mouse and keyboard into one input, which exacerbates the power supply problem. The solution was to use a powered USB hub, but since the audio ports are connected to the USB port and the hub is on my desk and the audio ports are on the back of the computer, I had to use a USB Extension cable from the plug in powered USB hub on my desk towards the back of the computer where the audio jacks are. Dynamic Device Management (DDM) is NOT SUPPORTED. This means that my Logitech G-Series programmable keyboard only works like a regular keyboard and the programmable keys don't work. The only solution is to find another KVM with DDM support. Finally, an odd design choice is that the microphone and headphone jacks are on opposite sides of the switch. Most headsets connect these wires together, creating an awkward connection when the Y in the connector is stretched. The remote to switch inputs is very handy as I like to have a piece of wire out of sight.
