Some people think that wire is wire and that all are the same, but that's not always the case. Inexpensive wire may be uncoated, or the coating may be so thin that storage can cause rust to form on the wire. Also, better welds with less spatter, which is always a good thing. Firepower wire welds as smoothly as any other wire I've used, and it costs little more than cheap wire. I've used cheap unnamed wire in the past and while I hope the weld strength is within specs, it just doesn't weld that well. It doesn't flow as smoothly and is more likely to spatter and/or burn through.
