Review on ๐Ÿ’พ Kanguru SS3 USB 3.0 16GB Flash Drive with Hardware Write Protect Switch by Kevin Lawson

Revainrating 2 out of 5

A good flash drive with a few flaws. Failed after 3 years and 7 months of VERY infrequent use.

See update below. Very good USB stick, solid construction. The lid stays in place now, but as is common with lidded USB drives, I'm afraid it will eventually come loose and then be lost. For a USB 3.0 device, it is a bit slower compared to other USB 3.0 flash drives. It uses a loop on the other end of the stick to which a lanyard or similar device can be attached to indicate LED access activity. The problem is that it's made of dark plastic and is very difficult to see unless you're using a USB stick in the dark. Update 08/01/2018: The drive is defective. Three years and 7 months of EXTREMELY easy use and the drive won't give me my data anymore, reads errors endlessly. When trying to format, repartition, erase, etc. the drive, I get an error message saying the drive is "write protected" regardless of the position of the write-protect switch. I thought it was a switch error, but that's not the case as I can't read any data from the disk except for folders in the root of the disk.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • old
