Thanks to MthsTec for supporting their product! This external Blu-ray drive was not working properly. I had inconsistent results with my DVDs and Blu-rays and was able to figure out the problem. MthsTec offered to send me a new disk to see if that fixed the problem. The new drive wasn't much better. However, I found that the drive (which shows up as "Matshita BD-MLT UJ240ES USB Device" on my system) was set to DVD Region 2 and I had to change it to DVD Region 1 for my use. I did this and now there are no problems reading disks. I also noticed that the Windows 10 driver on my system for this drive (cdrom.sys) is as follows: Manufacturer: Microsoft Driver Date: 21.06. Version 2006: 10.0.18362. 1 It seems to be a very old driver. So if anyone finds something better please let me know. Finally, the instructions for this drive speak of a micro-USB cable connected for power, but it seems to work fine without it. MthsTec recommends plugging in the power cord during use, so I guess the choice is yours. Overall I am satisfied with the product and the quality of customer service. MthsTec takes care of their product support and that is really important.1. I've found, that the drive (which shows up as "Matshita BD-MLT UJ240ES USB Device" on my system) was set to DVD region 2 and I had to change it to DVD region 1 for my use. I did this and now there are a lot fewer problems reading discs. However, some DVDs play "jerky" and it's not a very good video. I'm still learning.2. The Windows 10 driver on my system for this drive (cdrom.sys) looks like this: Manufacturer: Microsoft Driver Date: 06/21/2006 Version: 10.0.18362.1 Is that correct? Looks like a very old driver.3. Nothing to do with my problems, but do I need to connect a micro USB cable for power? The driver also works without it. I did this and now there are a lot fewer problems reading discs.
