I bought this disc for my daughter in college. She has a Microsoft Surface Pro. To get around the low-power issues of Surface tablets, I also bought a powered USB 3.0 hub. I connected the drive to the hub and the hub to the tablet, downloaded the software from the Microsoft Store and the drive worked fine.

I bought this to convert some old home video CDs to .mp4. The original videos were in .vob format. I first tried to convert a read from an internal Blueray drive on a Windows 10 laptop. The conversion software was Handbrake. After the drive has been running for a while, it will behave erratically and spin as fast as it can without reading any data. I then plugged in the Mythtec USB drive and successfully. It took 35 minutes to convert the entire CD of about 2 hours with 480 video lines to .mp4.

Easy to use, plug and play, nice bulb design on top, lights up when in use. I didn't record with this Bluray but as a reader it works great. A USB 3.0 or Type-C port provides all the power you need. Thanks to MthsTec for supporting their product! This external Blu-ray drive was not working properly. I had inconsistent results with my DVDs and Blu-rays and was able to figure out the problem. MthsTec offered to send me a new disk to see if that fixed the problem. The new drive wasn't much better. However, I found that the drive (which shows up as "Matshita BD-MLT UJ240ES USB Device" on my system) was set to DVD Region 2 and I had to change it to DVD Region 1 for my use. I did this and now…
