After two terrible floods caused by back pressure due to clogged ceramic pores, I reconnected this unit underwater to the Fluval 407 outlet (photo). Prepare for regular maintenance of this device. Cleaning is a chore because there is no access to pottery. I soaked it in a 1/3 bleach solution overnight, scrubbed gently with a bottle brush, then injected water into the sealed chamber via the CO2 line to flush out any remaining Clorox blisters. Hydrogen peroxide can also work and is less toxic. With 40psi of CO2 and 8-10 bubbles per minute running from a Fluval 407, this unit puts out a super fine mist in my planted 170 gallons. plants thrive.
