Only had to clean once and no problem. I noticed that some other reviews said they couldn't tighten the hose on the hose so thought I'd post a photo of the one I installed. This should be self-explanatory, but for less savvy people, don't remove the knobs from the diffuser. Instead, tighten towards the main body and then place the tubing you wish to use onto the sleeve. Then tighten the handles (from the main body) on the hose. I'll buy a second one just because I know it won't last forever.

Bought this to try after trying a few typical ceramic tank diffusers. I can only say wow. I fire 1-2 bubbles per second in my 30g (compared to 4-6 to keep the same level) and sometimes even have to reduce it to one to keep the CO2 levels from getting too high. This diffuser only works with an external filter. You cut the drain hose and insert the device so that it is in line with the return. Due to its compact size, j was a bit doubtful that it would actually work and that it would be leakproof. And it definitely works well. The CO2 coming out of my exit line is very good. The performance of my filter also helps circulate carbon dioxide throughout the aquarium. As a result, less CO2 is required. Just a minor inconvenience. Which might also help in a weird way, if so. If you install this device with the CO2 inlet facing down, water will seep into the chamber and block the CO2 inlet.
