Review on Rayovac Rechargeable Battery Charger AAA by Eric Graves

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Have owned this charger for many years

I bought one of these for NiMH batteries a few years ago. I've since given up NiMH but use this charger all the time to charge regular alkaline batteries. It works great with regular alkaline batteries that don't go below 1.43 volts. However, it occasionally charges over-discharged batteries and works, but is stable at around 1.43 volts. You can expect about two recharges from alkaline batteries. The reason this charger can charge regular alkaline batteries (where other chargers can't) is because it constantly stops charging in the right place. As a rule, it charges to around 1.59-1.6 volts, while new batteries usually have a voltage of 1.6 to 1.62 volts. It was amazing, but what's even more amazing is that this charger still works after all these years. I'm sure the quality control must have been excellent. Whether they are good - I do not know, but it's worth a try. However, if they want more than $20, you can also buy a Ray o Vac charger that fits all batteries (AAA/AA/C/D/ and 9 volts that sells for $24-$28 FYI - guess which battery charges best). : Durocell alkaline batteries, but Ray-O-Vacs are almost as good Update: I now use this charger for new NiMH batteries that are marked 'slow discharge'. These new batteries really work and much better than original NiMH batteries.
