Love love love this amazing Joseph Joseph M-Cuisine Microwave Rice Cooker. I have been a long time fan of JJ product design and own several of their products. But this little microwave rice cooker was a curiosity buy. I saw that on Revain and thought about it. It might be nice if it worked. Cooking rice in the microwave is nothing new to the Chinese. In Asia, every grocery store sells a variety of microwaveable rice packs. But when I saw it in my Revain listings, I was immediately intrigued. The M-Cuisine microwave rice cooker worked great. I really appreciate the attention to detail in the design of this product. This is how it works: - Measure the amount of rice you need to cook using the measuring cup provided, following the fold-out cooking instructions. - Rinse the rice in the inner black pot that doubles as a colander so you can rinse the rice and then put it back into the main pot. The inner mesh pot also has a foldable handle that folds away perfectly. Drain all water from the internal strainer. Leave the cleaned wet rice in the inner pot. โ Add water (see ratio of water to rice portion in the cooking instructions). โ Place the inner pot/sieve in a large white pot. - Cover the main white pot with a lid. - Place the spatula on the lid, line up the spatula and turn clockwise into the open slot in the main pot. The spatula also helps disperse the stream of steam that rises in the microwave. The steam hole on the lid is located just below the spatula, redirecting steam pressure to the side (horizontally or vertically). This helps keep the inside of the microwave clean. Brilliant! - Put the pot in the microwave. - The cooking time for 1 cup of rice in the microwave is 15 minutes. Note that the pot will be very hot after cooking, so be sure to use the correct heat-resistant oven mitts. Also, during cooking, the steam forms a very thin white film on your lid (looks like a thin layer of dried white elm glue on your hand). At first glance, the lid appears to have been damaged by the heat from the microwave. But don't panic. This is normal thanks to the clever placement of the spatula. You can easily clean it with a damp cloth and the lid will look nice again. This is a fantastic piece of cookware that should not be missing from any kitchen. You don't need this if you have a rice cooker, but cooking rice in the M-Cuisine Microwave Rice Cooker is very convenient. It really changes the rules of the game. Everything you need is in one device. I appreciate that very much. Another plus of this microwave rice cooker is that you can bring it to friends who don't have a rice cooker. With this little guy you can cook freshly cooked rice for 2-3 guests in 15 minutes. Dead easy. It really changes the rules of the game. You don't realize you need it until you have it. Then you can't live without it.
