I'm using the drive to convert audio CDs with EAC to FLAC and it works, but definitely slower than the drives I've used in the past for the same operation. That wouldn't be a problem if the price was lower. I specifically bought this item at an above-average price because it fits my existing Lenovo Thinkpad and I assume that it will be perceived as higher quality. It might be of higher quality (time will tell) but it's definitely slower than other suggestions and for that reason I'd look elsewhere. I'll play around with the included driver CD to see if it improves performance and report back here if it does.
