Review on 🎢 Enhance Your Sound Quality with Behringer Microphono PP400 Ultra-Compact Phono Preamp in Silver by Tonya Fisher

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Simply an amazing little preamp at an amazingly low price!

Simply put, I'm amazed. I'm a music lover. It's not an elitist word. Webster defines him as someone passionate about high-fidelity sound reproduction. That's me in a nutshell. I have a large collection of vintage equipment, including vintage turntables, and I have several new pieces of equipment that I lovingly care for and enjoy on a daily basis. Every single day. It's a big part of my life and has been since I was a teenager. I have a newer Sony surround AV receiver. 100 watts per channel and obviously has no PHONO input. I decided to try this Behringer preamp and risk the quality as the price was right. To be honest I wasn't expecting much. I used to listen to vinyl on a late 70's Yamaha or Pioneer with a good quality moving coil pickup. But I had a Pioneer PL-600 with an entry-level Audio Technika Cart and decided to connect it to Sony via Behringer. I was shocked. Absolutely no hum, no distortion, just enough preamp volume to keep up with other components and to be honest I was delighted. Actually sounds great. Now I can enjoy my vinyl on the surround receiver when I'm in the TV room and don't have to move to my living room or office to enjoy my vinyl collection. The price amazed me. This is a quality piece. A metal cabinet, well built and apparently well designed. The yellow power indicator is not too bright and stays on all the time since there is no ON/OFF switch. Too bad my Sony AV receiver doesn't have a switchable outlet on the back like my old receivers, because that would have solved the power light issue. But it's not very bright and doesn't bother me. It's small enough to be hidden behind a player or receiver, or you can display it. The 110 volt unit is compatible with the external wall transformer included with the preamp. It also has a standard 1/4" headphone jack on the back where the RCA and power/ground connections are located. This can come in handy if you buy it to convert your vinyl into digital files. This allows you to control through the headphone jack and connect the RCA jack output directly to the audio input jack on your computer's sound card. small preamp at a surprisingly low price.

Pros
  • High test scores for grip and durability
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others
