We have 2 short haired dogs (one very small) and mostly hard floors. We leave the vacuum cleaner running almost every day. The auto-empty feature kicks in when it should, but when the tiny trash can on the robot is more than 50% full (which is very likely after a few rooms), it pulls next to nothing out of it. This is because there are 2 small holes to automatically drain the bin and it's just poor design. For me it saves no time. Another thing to know is that the robot has no way of knowing if its dust bin is full. So it can work in the middle of the cycle with a full dust container and only has very little suction power. I empty it manually every day. I don't think our dogs shed in some crazy way, but YMMV. I wouldn't pay full price for an auto empty cart unless they fix the issues.
